Sound Bite Saturday

I hadn't planned to post today, but this afternoon just became overwhelming to me and I'm feeling a bit down in the dumps. As I was driving home alone, I stopped to search my iPod. I needed something that fit the mood. I can't imagine I am the only person who does this... sometimes, you just need a certain song that means something to the situation. Be it a song you dedicated to an old flame or a song that reminds you of a happy moment. Today, I need a "rise above this current bad situation and know that you will come out OK in the end" song.

And that song was "Alive Again" by Journey.

 

The line "You're not among the walking wounded anymore - There's a time to fall, and there's a time to rise above it all" gets me every time. Such a simple truth that I just need belted out to me every once and awhile. This song (along with Mr. Smith) got me through a terrible time in college, so whenever I find myself feeling overwhelmed and upset about life in general, I try to listen to this song.

 

And remember that it's never as bad as it seems. And that I have been through much worse. And that I'm still here. Right where I need to be.
